500 Word Evaluation Of Project

Favourite aspect of video

My favourite aspect of our video was when we did the long shot to the match on action shot, I feel that it ran very smoothly, and I think it was the best transition on the video. There were many other positive aspect with how our video turned out, for example, I feel that my reaction shot and Ryan’s slo-mo fall gave it a lot of comic validity, and the reaction shot gave the audience something to think about like what was I looking at.

Least favourite aspect of video

My least favourite aspect of the video was the fact that the censored sound was a bit too many decibels loud and when someone goes to watch the video for the first time, will get quite a shock when they hear the high toned BEEP! Also, the fact that you could see quite a few continuity errors when I now see it shocks me, when Ryan fell on the boxes, the boxes shifted place in the next scene and we covered it up with a dissolve.

What went well

I feel that a few transition shots went smoothly and there were not too many continuity errors, Ryan’s drunk acting to me was uncanny to nowaday alcoholic, as if he were drinking before to prepare for the role. Another aspect that I thought really suited the video was the actual music, it made it sound more like a sophisticated comedy. All in all I think the project went well and there were a few rookie mistakes but now we know what went wrong we can rectify that mistake next time.

What didn’t go to plan

I feel that some of the cuts did not go to plan due to the continuity errors, for example, when it cut to my reaction shot, my face on the previous screen was completely different to the next scene, and when Ryan fell onto the boxes, it dissolved into the next scene and you could clearly see that one or two of the boxes had moved substantially. Once again I think we did well for our first try at this and the shots we messed up this time, we will fix on our next project.

What would I improve upon

I feel that we could have improved on my performance a little bit, I think I am more suited to working behind the camera and not in front of it. In one frame you can see in the reflection of the door window Jonny and the camera, it seems to be an unavoidable mistake, and I feel like I’m knit picking here but in the future I will try to use after effects or premiere pro to edit it out in some way.
Conclusion
In conclusion, I liked the way the project went, we worked well in a team thinking out our script and making it funny, everyone got a chance editing, and we all did our part to make the project.

  1. Mikey,
This is a lovely, personal reflection of your first video. You mention some terms and relate to continuity but your example at the start could be clearer e.g., add an image for the match cut on the door. This could be amended if you find the time. Overall, a great start, well done.
